The Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program offers Ph.D. and M.S. degrees, as well as dual D.O./Ph.D. and D.O./M.S. degrees. Our interdisciplinary approach to Biomedical Sciences recognizes that contemporary research requires expertise across a range of biologically relevant areas. Thus, students must demonstrate classroom competence in the field of Biomedical Sciences by successfully completing required and elective courses, and must demonstrate proficiency in research by designing, conducting, and defending a research project (see Academic Information and Degrees Offered for more details).
Research interests of our faculty fall under the broad umbrella of Biomedical Sciences and reflect our interdisciplinary approach. Research Areas include Cellular and Molecular Biology and Genomics; Neuroscience; Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Pathology; Bacteriology/Virology/Mycology; Immunology/Inflammation; Endocrinology and Systems Physiology; Anatomy. There are additional faculty interests in Anatomy and Vertebrate Paleontology, and an Anatomy and Vertebrate Paleontology track for Ph.D. and M.S. students.
