Entrance Requirements
Each application is considered individually on its own merit and all available information will be taken into account.
The requirements for each type of applicant are listed below.
Prospective Student Applicants
- Baccalaureate degree
- Successful completion of
- General Biology
- General Chemistry
- Organic Chemistry
- Physics Undergraduate Courses
- Undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score of at least 1000 (total for verbal and quantitative) with a writing score of at least 4.0.
International Student Applicants
- A test of English as a Foreign language (TOEFL) score of at least 550 (213 computer based) for whom English is a second language
- International Student Admission

D.O./Ph.D. Student Applicants
- A Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) average score of 30
With approval of the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Committee (BSGC), a student may be allowed to make up deficiencies during the course of graduate study.
The Interdisciplinary Approach
We recognize that contemporary research requires expertise in a discipline as well as several topic areas. Any student that has completed a baccalaureate degree can enroll in nine hours or two courses in the biomedical sciences program as a special non-degree seeking student, subject to space availability. All laboratory courses are exempt.
