Ph.D. in lab

Research Thesis & Dissertation

A research thesis is required for the M.S.
degree and a research dissertation for the Ph.D. degree. The format should adhere to
the Graduate College Style Manual.

A public defense of the research is required for the M.S. degree and the Ph.D. degree with a notice being posted no later than 10 days prior to the defense. A final draft copy of the thesis or dissertation, available for review in the Office of Research, will be ready at the time the defense is
posted. The format of the defense is left to the design of the major advisor but must include an opportunity for members of the audience to ask questions.

The student must submit four copies of the thesis or dissertation and six copies of the abstract to the Graduate College. Copies of the thesis or dissertation become the property of the University. Two copies are filed in the University Library and two copies are kept at the Center for Health Sciences, one in the Library and one in the Office of Basic Sciences and Graduate Studies. There is a binding fee for the four copies.
