One day of travel time is provided for students who are not continuing a clinical rotation at the same facility, are changing their place of primary residence, and are traveling more than 50 miles. Two days of travel will be provided for students who are not continuing a clinical rotation at the same facility, are traveling more that 350 miles, and are changing their place of primary residence. If there is no change of primary residence between rotations (i.e. Commuting from Tulsa to Stillwater), no travel time is provided.
Travel days should be taken from the beginning and end of the rotation requiring the travel, not from other rotations.
Out-of-the-country travel time will be considered on an individual basis when provided with adequate advance notice. Please contact the Office of Clinical Education three months prior to the rotation.
Extra travel time exceptions:
- If the final day of a clinical clerkship rotation falls on an official College holiday, extra travel time is not provided.
- Extenuating circumstances: to be approved in advance through the responsible clinical department or the Office of Clinical Education.
The student is responsible for notifying their preceptor of travel time, schedule and dates of arrival and departure.
All rotations begin on the first day of each month. Should a holiday fall on the first day, students are encouraged to contact the responsible clinical department and/or preceptor at the site to verify date of arrival.
