Continuing Medical Education
Physicians will receive Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit hours for their participation as preceptors and lecturers for Family Medicine rotations.
American Osteopathic Association (AOA) CME
- Osteopathic physicians (DO’s) will receive one hour of category 1-B CME for each hour of clinical instruction up to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
- Category 1-A credit will be awarded on an hour-for-hour basis for each hour of lecture during the didactic components of Family Medicine rotations.
American Medical Association (AMA) CME
- Allopathic physicians (MD’s) will receive a letter from the OSU-COM CME office indicating the hours of service either in clinical instruction or lecture for submission to their individual accrediting board.
CME Notification
- Cumulative CME hours will be calculated every July and December for the calendar year by OSU-COM.
- Clinical hours will be calculated on a 40 hour week and will be based on the preceptor/student assignment schedule.
- Lecture hours should be submitted to OSU-COM Department of Family Medicine by the preceptor for didactic components of Family Medicine rotations.
- The OSU-COM CME Department will notify physicians via letter of their cumulative CME hours.
- OSU-COM CME Department will forward AOA CME credit hours for Osteopathic physicians to the Oklahoma State Board of Osteopathic Examiners and to the American Osteopathic Association.
- OSU-COM CME Department will forward hours directly to the Allopathic physicians.
