TAKE CHARGE!

The TAKE CHARGE! program at the OSU Women’s Health Center offers free breast exams, mammograms and pap smears for women age 40 through 64 who meet income eligibility guidelines.

TAKE CHARGE! services include a:

• Health history
• Screening pelvic exam and pap smear
• Clinical breast exam
• Instruction on breast self-exam
• Education about lowering cancer risk

A complete referral and follow up for women with abnormal results is included. Mammograms are for women ages 40 through 64 years old. Oklahoma women 65 and older are provided annual screening/mammography through Medicare Part B.

The TAKE CHARGE! program is part of Oklahoma’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection program. The Oklahoma State Department of Health Chronic Disease Service provides this program through a grant from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Osteopathic Founders Foundation was instrumental in the development of the Women's Center, which opened in spring of 1999. Our most recent equipment addition is a state-of-the-art digital mammography unit, thanks to a grant from the H.A. and Mary K. Chapman Charitable Trust.
