Emergency Medicine Residency
Program Description
This program is designed for 36 one-month rotations. The first year consists of 6 months of Emergency Medicine, 1 month each of Radiology/Ultrasound, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, ICU, Anesthesia, Orthopedics and two weeks with Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
The second year includes 6 months Emergency Medicine, 1 month each of Cardiology, Pediatric ICU, Trauma, Neurology and two weeks each in University, ENT and Ophthalmology.
The third year focuses on 6 months Emergency Medicine, 6 weeks elective, 1 month each of University, Administration, Toxicology, and two weeks each in Infectious Disease and the Medical Examiner.
The resident will spend six months in the base emergency department each year. There is ample elective time planned for residents to spend in areas of interest to strengthen their training, including weekly journal club and weekly attendance at grand rounds, at the local university-based emergency medicine program. Junior and senior student rotations are also available.
