Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma
Rural Family Medicine Training
Program Description
The Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma is a modern 120-bed facility that serves as a hub for trauma and patient care in Durant, Bryan County, and surrounding smaller communities. Durant enjoys a stable population and economy, based primarily on recreational opportunities at nearby Lake Texoma and Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Durant provides a unique opportunity for training in a rural location. Our Family Medicine Internship & Residency offer all the advantages of an urban teaching hospital without the disadvantages of competition from other residency programs.

Interns and residents work with board eligible and certified physicians on the wards and in the clinics and receive educational support from the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. You will enjoy the benefits of a great patient mix and volume, in addition to experiencing in-patient and ambulatory based procedures. Physicians on staff and in the community will also participate in the educational experience of residents.
For individuals interested in quality training in Family Medicine and the opportunity to train in a rural community where you may want to practice, Durant is an excellent choice. Durant is approved as a Physician Manpower Training Commission (PMTC) rural practice site.
