Orthopedic Surgery Residency
With 1,100 orthopedic surgical procedures performed each year, OSUMC provides a diverse, high volume training atmosphere to prepare each orthopedic resident physician for community based practice and/or preparation for fellowship training. Residency staff teaching physicians with subspecialty fellowship training in spine, joint reconstruction, hand, and sports medicine provide an extremely well-rounded experience with exposure to the latest and most progressive surgical techniques. Twelve months of out rotations in orthopedic trauma, pediatrics, and hand surgery during the PGY4 year provide focused learning at the nation's best facilities. A weekly resident fracture clinic allows management of both operative and nonoperative orthopedic fractures. Daily morning structured didactics provide a sound academic base for the training of today's orthopedic surgeon. X-ray conference is held weekly, and monthly scheduled journal clubs complement an already balanced residency
A unique Orthopedic Surgery Residency Endowment produces financial support for the residents during their out rotations.
