General Surgery Residency
Program Description
The general surgery residency program consists of the basic surgical disciplines as well as special training in endoscopy, laparoscopy, cardiovascular surgery, and surgical intensive care. There are several options to select from for electives including out-rotations. Each resident will have heavy responsibility for patient care, working from an annual inpatient caseload of nearly 4,000 patients, many coming from an extremely active emergency center. Outpatient surgery accounts for over 4,000 procedures per year. Experience in outpatient clinics provided.
Didactics include case presentation conferences, mortality review, tumor board, journal club, and regular lecture series.
