Join OSU Prevention Programs event to improve health in West Tulsa
TULSA, Okla. — OSU Prevention Programs professionals and Westside Community Coalition leaders meet at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, at OSU Center for Health Sciences CAME Auditorium, room D-007, to learn more about the Oklahoma Turning Point program and how it may benefit the Tulsa Westside area.
Oklahoma Turning Point is an Oklahoma Community Partners in Public Health Innovation aimed at strengthening public health infrastructure through community-based action. Larry Olmstead, director of the Oklahoma Turning Point initiative, will make a presentation about the program.
Cris Campbell, OSU prevention consultant, said OSU will support Turning Point by providing data and inviting participation from community and health leaders. He said there is a need for local residents to identify problems, get involved in making changes and become a more powerful voice locally and politically. “We need the presence, voice and leadership of the Westside community,” he said.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information contact Campbell at (918) 756-1248.
