Walgreens and OSU Center for Health Sciences provide free health screenings
TULSA, OK — Walgreens and Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences are teaming up to provide free health screenings to the public on Oct. 5 in Southwest Tulsa.
The Walgreens wellness tour mobile clinic and the OSU Center for Health Sciences mobile telemedicine clinic will be stationed at the OSU Health Care Center, 2345 Southwest Blvd., from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Medical staff on the buses will provide the following free screenings: cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, bone density and body mass index (BMI).
To participate in the screenings, people simply need to arrive between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. and check in where the mobile clinic buses are parked.
The screenings provide important information about a person’s overall health and can determine if any diseases are present or are likely to occur. Elevated cholesterol and blood pressure levels are key indicators of the onset of heart disease. Glucose levels determine if a person has or is at risk for diabetes. Bone density screening is used to determine if a person has or is at risk of osteoporosis. A person’s body mass index shows the amount of body fat in relation to weight and height and is important information to know since obesity can lead to many complications and illnesses including heart disease, diabetes, cancer and joint problems.
Walgreens and OSU Center for Health Sciences provide free screenings as a service to the public and to help prevent disease and promote healthy living. Experts will be on hand to provide additional information regarding the specific screenings and to answer overall health questions.

About Walgreens Wellness Tour
When was the last time you took a health screening? Early detection is the key to staying well, and the Walgreens Wellness Tour is crossing the nation to provide a variety of free services and screenings for the entire family.
Many diseases can be detected through screenings long before any symptoms are noticed, which is why awareness is so important to remaining healthy. The Walgreens Wellness Tour encourages consumers to act as their own health advocates by taking charge and visiting the wellness vehicle as it stops in Green Country to offer educational information and free health screenings.
The tour aims to bring free screening services and better health awareness to local communities throughout the United States. Each visitor is invited to take all five screenings, which are worth more than $100 in value. All screenings take place inside the customized vehicle and include the following: total cholesterol level, blood pressure, bone density, glucose level and body mass index.
