OSU health fair September 20 in Cleveland

TULSA, Okla.—Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Student Osteopathic Medicine Association (SOMA) presents a health fair in Cleveland, Oklahoma from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, September 20, as part of Cleveland’s Pioneer Day Festival.

The SOMA Rural Health Fair - Boomtown Blowout: Coming Together for Better Health in Oklahoma is presented in conjunction with the Pioneers of Cleveland. It offers vision, depression, blood glucose, and vital signs health screening. A children’s fair will feature a Jupiter Jump and the Cleveland Fire Department.

OSU medical students will assist with health screenings. Each year, SOMA holds a health fair in an outlying community, giving students a chance to learn more about community health care needs.

Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences (OSU-CHS) in Tulsa offers programs in osteopathic medicine, biomedical sciences and forensic sciences. Since its beginnings more than 30 years ago, OSU-CHS has grown to offer nine graduate degrees. On-campus programs, distance learning and OSU partnerships train osteopathic physicians, research scientists and health care professionals with an emphasis on serving rural and under-served Oklahoma.

OSU operates six clinics, five in Tulsa and one in Enid. The OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine has been nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top medical schools in the nation for the past seven years.
