Enid medical student’s essay wins award

TULSA, Okla. – Dustin Colegrove, a fourth-year student at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, took honors in a recent American Osteopathic Association’s Bureau of Osteopathic History and Identity essay competition.
Student doctor Colegrove was named one of two second-prize winners for his essay, “Osteopathic Medicine’s Transcendence of Geopolitical Borders: The Development of Osteopathic Medical Education in the United Kingdom,” in the bureau’s 2008 competition. He receives a $2,500 cash prize. Colegrove also won a second place essay prize from the bureau in 2006.
Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa offers programs in osteopathic medicine, biomedical sciences and forensic sciences. Since its beginnings more than 30 years ago, OSU-CHS has grown to offer nine graduate degrees. On-campus programs, distance learning and OSU partnerships train osteopathic physicians, research scientists and health care professionals with an emphasis on serving rural and under-served Oklahoma.
