OSU-CHS Biomed student takes first
in state microscopy competition
Matt Hoffman, a Ph.D. Candidate in the Biomedical Sciences Division, Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, was awarded First Place in the annual Timpano Award Competition sponsored by the Oklahoma Microscopy Society at the fall 2008 OAS/OMS meeting, Title of presentation “Optimizing Immunofluorescence Protocols for Proper Identification of Dorsal Root Ganglion Neuron Populations” by E. Matthew Hoffman, Kristin M. Edwards, Ruben Schechter, and Kenneth E. Miller. Matt was awarded travel support to the Microscopy Society of America/Microbeam Analysis Society meeting in Richmond, Va. in July 2009. Matt was also presented with a $100 scholarship. This award, commemorating the late Dr. Peter Timpano, is based on student presentations at the Fall OMS meeting, which is held annually in conjunction with the meeting of the Oklahoma Academy of Science (OAS). This competition is judged by OMS members appointed by the OMS Executive Board.
