Orientation Week begins Monday, Aug. 10
TULSA, Okla. – Orientation week begins Monday, Aug. 10, for 92 incoming medical students at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
The entering first-year medical students will be welcomed and will attend sessions to learn more about the academics of medical school, stress management, financial aid, the on-campus medical library, and student life. They will also participate in community service activities and visit OSU Medical Center.
The week is capped by the annual White Coat Ceremony, scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Tulsa Community College - VanTrease Performing Arts Center for Education at 10300 E. 81st St. The ceremony emphasizes the importance of the doctor-patient relationship and focuses on the true meaning of the art and science of medicine. It is open to the public.
Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa offers programs in osteopathic medicine, biomedical sciences and forensic sciences. Since its beginnings more than 30 years ago, OSU-CHS has grown to offer nine graduate degrees. On-campus programs, distance learning and OSU partnerships train osteopathic physicians, research scientists and health care professionals with an emphasis on serving rural and under-served Oklahoma.
