Requirements
To be considered, any applicant to a degree program must meet minimum qualifications for admission to the Graduate College at Oklahoma State University, which include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and a grade point average of 3.0 or above.
M.S. Program
The M.S. program requires an undergraduate degree in one of the behavioral, biological, medical, or physical sciences or in a forensics-related discipline, with the college major and/or minor providing an appropriate foundation for advanced studies in the chosen specialty--forensic DNA, forensic pathology, forensic psychology, or forensic toxicology. A combined score of at least 1000 on the verbal and quantitative sections of the GRE is also required, with the analytical score taken into consideration.
M.F.S.A. Program
M.F.S.A. applicants must have at least one year of academic or professional experience in the forensic sciences or in related fields. A score above the 50th percentile on the Miller Analogy Test (MAT) or a GRE score equivalent to the minimum requirement for the M.S. program is also required. With permission from the Program Director of Forensic Sciences, the following scores may be substituted for M.F.S.A. applicants with advanced degrees:
- Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT)
- Dental College Admissions Test (DAT)
- passing scores on the national board examination in dentistry, nursing, medicine, psychology, or accounting or on the state bar exam
Graduate Certificate Program in Questioned Documents
Participation in the Graduate Certificate program requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, associated training and experience in the area of forensic document examination, and the approval of both the lead instructor in questioned documents and the Program Director.
International Students
International students must have a minimum score of 600 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (or 250 on the computerized version) and a minimum score of five (5) on the Test of Written English (TOEFL/TWE).
