OSU-CHS partners with OHCA to improve health of infants, expectant mothers
The OSU Physicians Department of Obstetrics has partnered with the Oklahoma Health Care Authority for a program aimed at reducing premature births and improving the health of newborns and pregnant women.
The Strong Start for Mothers and Newborns Initiative promotes new approaches to prenatal care and evaluates enhanced prenatal care interventions for women enrolled in SoonerCare who are at risk for having a preterm birth. The program also aims to decrease the cost of medical care during pregnancy, delivery and over the course of the first year of life for children born to mothers in SoonerCare.
OHCA was one of 27 health care organizations awarded grant funding from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation to participate in the program.
