OSU-CHS students promote science at Eugene Field Elementary
The OSU Center for Health Sciences Biomedical Sciences Graduate Student Association recently hosted a science fair for students at Eugene Field Elementary School.
A group of 44 third-grade students worked in teams with OSU-CHS students on a variety of experiments ranging from bubbles to electricity. The next day, the volunteers helped Eugene Field students develop posters to explain the experiment process and results.
The fair concluded on March 7 with the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Student Association preparing the students for judging. Science fair judges from OSU-CHS included Kathleen Curtis, Ph.D., Rashmi Kaul, Ph.D., Gerwald Köhler, Ph.D., and Gregory Sawyer, Ph.D.
The judges presented the first place award to an experiment that tested the strength of a paper towel. An experiment using oil and vinegar took second place and a pendulum motion experiment took third place.
