Hormones expert to present First Friday Seminar at OSU-CHS
Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences will host world-renowned hormones researcher Jan-Åke Gustafsson, M.D., Ph.D., on Friday, May 3 at noon in D-007 for the First Friday Seminar.
Gustafsson, director of the Center for Nuclear Receptors and Cell Signaling at the University of Houston, will present "Biology and Pathology of Estrogen Receptor-Beta." The lecture will focus on his research on nuclear receptors and cell signaling.
Gustafsson, who discovered the estrogen receptor-beta, is known worldwide for his research on hormones and their use in new treatments for diseases, such as cancer, diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided at 11:45 a.m. Following the seminar, the OSU-CHS Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology will host a reception for Gustafsson, faculty and graduate students.
