President Shrum to speak to Leadership Oklahoma on health issues
OSU-CHS President Kayse Shrum will be a featured speaker for the Leadership Oklahoma Class XXVII on Friday, Feb. 7 at the WaterWorks Art Center in Tulsa.
Shrum, who was a featured speaker at TEDxOStateU in October, will share the story of how she first became interested in being a physician and how OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine is using programs and partnerships with FFA chapters across the state to encourage high schools students to become rural physicians. She will also discuss OSU-COM's Rural Medical Track, early admission programs and how medical residency programs in rural communities impact the future of health care in Oklahoma.
Leadership Oklahoma members will be in Tulsa on Feb. 7-8 for class sessions on health and human services. Members, who come from across the state and represent diverse backgrounds and vocations, meet each month for sessions focused on major issues facing the state. Each session has a variety of activities incorporating leading experts, small group and panel discussions, tours and presentations.
