The Peds Club was recently honored for efforts to promote children’s health and community service by the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians. The OSU-COM chapter was named the Student Club of the Year at the organization’s spring conference in Kansas City.

More than 70 first- and second-year medical students are members of the Peds Club. The students organized Mini-Med School for Eugene Field Elementary School students and volunteered at the Halloween carnival at The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis. They have hosted local pediatricians and OSU Medical Center residents for special lectures and also established the New Equipment and Resources to Discover Science (NERDS) program to raise funds for Eugene Field Elementary students participating in science fairs.

OSU-COM Peds Club was the top chapter of the 21 ACOP student clubs across the country. ACOP is the official pediatric organization of the American Osteopathic Association.
