OSU-CHS student wins national pathology award


The American Society for Clinical Pathology recently selected OSU-COM student Jolee Hernandez as the recipient of the 2014 Gold Award for Academic Excellence and¬†Achievement in Pathology. She will be recognized during the Michele D. Raible Lecture for Residents on Oct. 9 at the organization’s annual meeting in Tampa, Fla.

A first-year medical student from Jones, Okla., Hernandez was chosen from 10 finalists to receive the honor. The award recognizes medical students with an interest in pathology, or the study of disease, as a profession for their academic achievement and leadership skills.

Hernandez is a member of the Student Interest Group in Neurology, Student Osteopathic Association of Radiology, American Society for Clinical Pathology, Students of Osteopathic Medical Association and Student National Medical Association.
