The incoming class of students at OSU-COM will volunteer in the Tulsa community as part of Dr. Pete’s Big Event on Friday, Aug. 1. Dr. Pete’s Big Event is an annual community service project for medical students on their first day of school.

Second-year medical students helped plan the event and will lead the volunteer groups at each of the service sites. The event promotes the importance of team work, community involvement and building relationships.

Volunteers will sort and stock food at the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, bake cookies and clean at the Hospitality House of Tulsa, assist at Life Senior Services, garden at Clarehouse Hospice and help with some small projects at Eugene Field Elementary School, the university’s partner in education.
