Med-Xtravaganza brings high school students to medical school

Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine will host Med-Xtravaganza for high school students on Friday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the OSU Center for Health Sciences.

“Med-X is an opportunity for students to visit our campus and experience medical school,” said Maghin Abernathy, director of recruitment at OSU-COM. “They will also learn what to do while in high school to prepare for medical school.”

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities, including testing suturing skills, listening to a simulation of the heart and lungs, learning to perform intubations and studying human anatomy.

Students may also tour the OSU-CHS campus, interact with OSU medical students and learn more about the admissions process. Lunch will be provided.

The program is free to all high school students. To register for the event, visit the Med-X website. For more information, contact Abernathy at maghin.abernathy@okstate.edu or 918-561- 8277.
