Wellness Center honors fall fitness competition winners

Acts of Kindness challenge winners Shawn Flock, left, Courtney Busse and Kari Callahan receive prizes for their fitness efforts during the month of October.

While students, faculty and staff were studying and working, many were participating in wellness challenges throughout the fall semester to help make the OSU-CHS campus a healthier place. Health and Wellness Manager Jesse Chaffin would like to announce the winners:

Acts of Wellness – Faculty and staff completed acts of wellness. For each act of wellness performed, a ticket was entered into a prize drawing. Acts of Wellness included eating healthy snacks and participating in fitness activities. Winners are:

  • Shawn Flock
  • Courtney Busse
  • Kari Callahan

Fight Against Obesity – The Wellness Center hosted a campus-wide weight loss challenge throughout the fall semester. In total, participants lost 255 pounds. Each winner received a $100 gift card. They are:

  • Cam Estes, most inches lost
  • JW (anonymous) most percentage body weight lost.

Walk for Health – Seventeen teams of faculty and staff dedicated themselves to increasing their daily steps during November by walking the distance equal to some of Oklahoma’s attractions such as Woolaroc Museum and Wildlife Refuge or Redbud Valley. All together, the teams totaled 7,838,688 steps or 3,712 miles, roughly the distance to travel from OSU-CHS to Hawaii.

Winning teams are:

  • Holy Walkamolies – Matt Vassar, Michael Bibens, Greg Bradley
  • Human Resources – Bobbie McPherson and Debbie Butler
  • 2 Fast 1 Furious – Jeff Hackler, Lindsey Yoder, Jessie Sorelle
