It is National Rural Health Day -
Open house, free lunch begin at 11 a.m.
The OSU Center for Rural Health celebrates “the power of rural” today at its inaugural National Rural Health Day event.
Faculty, staff and students are invited to join OSU rural health at an open house and free barbeque lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Phoenix Building, 1716 S. Phoenix. http://www.healthsciences.okstate.edu/directions.cfm
OSU in Tulsa President Howard Barnett will speak at 11 a.m. and read the proclamation by Gov. Mary Fallin designating Nov. 17, 2011 as National Rural Health Day in Oklahoma.
National Rural Health Day honors the community-minded, “can do” spirit that prevails in rural America. It also brings to light the unique healthcare challenges that rural citizens face and showcases the efforts of rural healthcare providers, State Offices of Rural Health and other rural stakeholders to address those challenges.
OSU-CHS and OSU-Tulsa go for fifth straight win in annual Bedlam Food Drive
OSU in Tulsa is trying for a fifth straight win as Cowboy and Sooner fans compete in the sixth annual Bedlam Canned Food Drive to benefit the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.
Oklahoma State University and University of Oklahoma fans will compete to raise the most donations of canned food and money now through Friday, Dec. 2. The OSU-OU Bedlam football game is Saturday, Dec. 3.
OSU fans can score points for the Cowboys by donating non-perishable food items at the OSU-CHS and OSU-Tulsa campuses as well as other locations in the city. Ryan Miller is coordinating food donations at OSU-CHS. Items can be placed in the marked container on the ground floor by the east elevators. Monetary donations are accepted at the CFBEO website and can be designated as part of the Bedlam food drive and for OSU.
During last year’s drive, OSU beat OU by more than 2,500 points, which include food items and monetary donations. A total of 7,206 pounds of food and $1,942 was donated and used to support the 450 partner programs served by the food bank.
Bedlam Food Drive is sponsored by the Tulsa Chapter of the OSU Alumni Association and the OU Club of Tulsa.

Before leaving for Thanksgiving break, turn off electronic equipment including monitors, computers, speakers, printers, etc. Consider emptying and defrosting mini-refrigerators, unplug and leave door ajar while you are away. Unplug fans, chargers, radios and appliances. Close blinds and tilt slats upward. As always, turn off the lights. Remember that temperatures may be cooler than usual, as the heating may be turned off in some spaces. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
