Special invitation for scholarship announcement
Monday at 12:15 p.m. – Founders Hall
OSU Center for Health Sciences and Dr. Dayal Meshri will make an announcement Monday regarding a substantial student scholarship.  Dr. Indu Dayal Meshri Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in memory of his late wife, Dr. Indu Meshri.

OSU-CHS students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the announcement at 12:15 p.m. in Founders Hall.


Join OSU Physicians OB/GYN at Tulsa Women’s Living Expo

OSU OB/GYN physicians Joseph Johnson, D.O., William Po, M.D. and Lance Frye, M.D. and the OSU Mobile Telemedicine Clinic will be at the Tulsa Women’s Living Expo Friday through Sunday, Feb. 11-13, at QuikTrip Center at Expo Square.

The OSU Physicians OB/GYN location offers information, free samples, handouts, videos, ultrasound demonstration and tours of the telemedicine bus. Expectant moms can register for a drawing for a child’s car seat.  Dr. Johnson will participate in “Ask the Doctors” at noon Saturday, discussing cervical cancer prevention.

Expo hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Read more


Whitten presentation for students set Tuesday
Dr. Kent Smith and the Office of Student Affairs invite you to hear Reggie Whitten speak on “Drug Addiction; the cause and effect and what Physicians need to know” at noon Tuesday, Feb. 15, in Dunlap Auditorium. He speaks from his experience and heart on this subject that will help you better understand what your patients and families are going through when faced with drug and alcohol addiction. Whitten supports OSU Center for Health Sciences through his foundation, the Whitten Newman Foundation.


Get “heart smart” at Feb. 17 women’s heart health presentation
Gary Badzinski, D.O., interventional cardiologist at OSU Medical Center, will discuss “Women's Heart Health” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at OSU Medical Center auditorium, 744 W. 9th St. Badzinski will address important truths women need to know. A question and answer session is included.

The presentation includes free blood pressure checks at 5 p.m., refreshments and a door prize drawing.  Free valet parking is available.  Please call (918) 599-5900 by Tuesday, Feb. 15, to make a reservation for the presentation.


OKAHEC funded for cancer survivorship workshops
The Oklahoma Area Health Education Center for Rural Health at the OSU Center for Health Sciences will present a workshop series in Tahlequah and Enid for cancer survivors this spring through a grant from the Lance Armstrong Foundation. 

The workshops series, Cancer Transitions:  Moving Beyond Treatment™, is a six-week program designed to ease transitions from active treatment to post-treatment survivorship. The program is from the Cancer Support Community and the LAF LIVESTRONG®.  “We are very proud to offer this program. It teaches cancer survivorship tools such as the benefits of exercise, nutrition, emotional support and medical management, which are core issues for cancer survivors,” said Toni Hart, OKAHEC education coordinator.


OSU experts make news this week
Nationally recognized forensics expert Robert Allen, Ph.D., appeared on Tulsa’s Fox 23 to demonstrate dusting for fingerprints and to discuss the course he is teaching on crime scene investigation for the OSU senior program from Oscher Lifelong Learning Institute.    The class begins Feb. 15 in Tulsa.  More information: 1 (800) 765-8933.

Pediatrician Stan Grogg, D.O., discussed influenza with reporter Maggie Stokes from KOCO Channel 5, Oklahoma City.  

Craig Stevens, Ph.D., was interviewed by Fox23 about mental fitness and his juggling class.
