SNMA dinner and auction Wednesday benefit Eugene Field Health Fair
Student National Medical Association’s potluck dinner and cook-off is Wednesday, March 30. The event benefits SNMA’s 10th annual Spring Health Fair at Eugene Field Elementary School. Cook-off participants will vie for the best-grilled item, chili, dessert or appetizer titles. The silent auction includes items such as hotel stays, spa treatments, restaurant dinners, boot camp membership and more. Set up begins at 3 p.m. in Founders Hall. Two April events help fund SAC’s staff scholarships
The popular Book and Gift sale returns to Founders Hall Monday through Wednesday, April 4-6. The event offers a variety of books-from children’s stories to cookbooks-and gift items. A portion of proceeds benefits Staff Advisory Council scholarships. Cash, checks and credit or debit cards are accepted. The bake sale at 11:30 Tuesday, April 26, in Founders Hall offers delectable baked items and benefit staff scholarships. To donate a baked item, contact Bria Taylor.
Data Mining Demystified Thursday, April 14 at OSU-Tulsa
Learn more about how researchers and other professionals use data and text mining applications to analyze large quantities of information for better decision making with OSU’s Dr. Dursun Delen, associate professor in Management Science and Information Systems, at noon Thursday, April 14, North Hall, rm. 150. The presentation is part of the Faculty Research Excellence Series sponsored by OSU-Tulsa Library. Attendees may call 918-594-8133 by 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 12 to reserve lunch for $8.95, or a bring sack lunch.

Girl Scout camp physicals Thursday, April 19
Osteopathic medical students, resident physicians and family practice volunteer physicians conduct summer camp physicals for Tulsa area Girl Scouts from 5 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 19 in Founders Hall. Scouts will receive a check of immunizations, height, weight, blood pressure, and other routine exams. Steven Eddy, D.O., M.P.H., supervises the examinations and Linda Lawrence is clinical education academic assistant. Approximately 100 scouts are expected.
Spring brings the Osteopathic Scrub Run
What began in 1979 as the Osteopathic Run – now the Osteopathic Scrub Run– is Saturday, April 23. A 1-mile fun run, a 5K, and a 10K run are ChampionChip timed. Proceeds help support Lifeshare Transplant Donor Services of Oklahoma. All races are walker friendly. More information or to register
Wilkett coordinates medical guardians for Oklahoma Honor Flights
D. Matt Wilkett, D.O., assistant professor of medicine, is a board member of the Eastern Oklahoma Region for Oklahoma Honor Flights for World War II veterans and helps coordinate medical guardians who assist veterans on one-day charter flights to visit the World War II Memorial and Arlington Cemetery in the Washington, D.C. area.
