Earth Day brings new recycling option
Today is Earth Day and OSU-CHS faculty, staff and students have a new recycling option on our campus. Howard Barnett, president of OSU in Tulsa, announced yesterday that PepsiCo Dream Machine recycling kiosks and bins are now available at both campuses. Dream Machines provide students, faculty, staff and campus visitors with a convenient and rewarding way to recycle their plastic bottles and aluminum cans. Read news release
Craig Stevens on OCAST “Innovations” interview
Craig Stevens, Ph.D., the 2010 recipient of the OCAST Health Research Award, attended the OCAST Annual Health Research Conference in Oklahoma City, and was interviewed by the Oklahoma Center for Advancement of Science and technology (OCAST) radio show “Innovations.” Stevens discussed his research on opioids and toll-like receptors, the new research building at OSU-CHS, and the excitement of biomedical research. The interview aired April 17 on KRMG in Tulsa. Listen (segment airs from 27:40 to 37:40).
Staff Advisory Council nominations due Friday, April 29
Staff Advisory Council seeks nominations by Friday, April 29, for 23 open seats for 2011-12. You may nominate yourself. Before nominating a staff member, please confirm that the potential nominee is willing to serve. Email nominations to firstname.lastname@example.org and/or email@example.com. Include name of the nominee, phone number and departmental affiliation.
SAC representatives and vacancies by district are:
- District 1: Center for Health Sciences/Phoenix + Other (11 seats) - 1 vacancy
- District 2: Houston Parke/Houston Center/Physicians Office Building/Eastgate/St. Francis (10 seats) - 8 vacancies
- District 3: Health Care Center/ Bldg 2401 (6 seats) -3 vacancies
- District 4: OSU-Tulsa Main Hall (8 seats) -6 vacancies
- District 5: OSU Tulsa North Hall/ Admin Bldg (7 seats)- 5 vacancies
- Other: Airport, Enid, and OKC
Call for nominations for SAC Awards for Excellence
Staff Advisory Council is calling for nominations for the Awards for Excellence. Two awards are given; one to administrative/professional staff employee and one to a classified employee. Each recipient receives $500 (after taxes). You can make nominations on the SAC Website and are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011. Recipients will be announced at the OSU-CHS Staff Appreciation Day picnic Friday, June 17.
Monday’s SAC bake sale benefits staff scholarships
Save room on Monday for a purchase from the Staff Advisory Council bake sale. The sale is open from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Founders Hall. Make a donation for the item of your choice and help SAC raise funds for staff scholarships. Get a good deal on good eats, for a good cause.
