Medsation 2011 slated Aug. 3 and 4
A panel of nationally known curriculum and medical education speakers highlight the first annual OSU-CHS Medsation medical education conference in Tulsa.
The one-day program will be offered on two days, Aug 3 or 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at OSU-CHS in Tulsa.
“The entire program is being repeated on the second day to allow clinical staff the opportunity to keep clinics running and release only a portion of their staff each day,”said Machelle Davison, Ed.D., director of the OSU-CHS office of educational development,
The program offers education and information related to curriculum revision, educational theory, practical tips and techniques for integration, microteaching and/or bedside teaching, one-minute preceptor and facilitation.
Both basic science and clinical science topics are included. The conference offers seven hours of Category 2a continuing medical education.
Speakers include Patricia Thomas, M.D., Frank Papa, D.O., Ph.D., Elza Mylona, Ph.D., Michael Rowane, D.O., M.D., Eric Bauman, Ph.D., Diane Birnbaumer, M.D. and Kevin Krane, M.D.

Bedlam Run is July 30
The OU Club of Tulsa and the OSU Alumni Association’s Tulsa chapter join forces to raise money for student scholarships at the 2011 Bedlam Run Saturday, July 30.
The event features a 5K and 10K at 7:30 a.m. and a Fun Run at 7:35 a.m. The course runs through downtown Tulsa’s Blue Dome district and the OSU-Tulsa campus. Registration is $25 per person through July 13 and $35 per person through race day. Race day registration opens at 6:30 a.m. All registrants will receive a souvenir T-shirt while supplies last. Participants are encouraged to form teams to represent their favorite school in this historic in-state rivalry series.
Professional timing services provided by Fleet Feet. Prizes will be awarded to race category winners.

Alumni association golf event raises funds
The 2011 OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine Alumni Association golf tournament at Clary Fields Golf Club continued its tradition of raising funds for alumni causes.
“Coach Eddie Sutton and Pistol Pete (photo, with Dr. Kayse Shrum, provost and dean) attended once again, and we raised nearly $6,000,” said alumni director Ryan Miller.
This year’s tournament drew 12 teams and approximately 50 players. Friends and family members joined golfers at a luncheon before tee-off.
