OSU in Tulsa announces combined United Way goal of $52,011
At a kick-off breakfast today, OSU in Tulsa President Howard Barnett today announced the fundraising goal of $52,011 for OSU Center for Health Sciences and OSU-Tulsa combined annual Tulsa Area United Way campaign.
This year's campaign theme is “What the World Needs Now…” United Way is the official charitable organization of OSU. Last year, OSU’s two Tulsa campuses raised a combined total of more than $51,600 for the Tulsa Area United Way.
OSU-CHS committee members are Ryan Miller, chair, Amanda Benn, Chad Landgraf, Dallis Graham, Krys Hatfield, Carol Sarafin, Betty Jo Westerfield and Terry Brown. OSU- Tulsa committee members are Larry Cochran, chair, Susan Tolbart, RD Bell, Amy Duncan, Michael Llovera, Megan Voss, Christina Barnaby, Beth Freeman, Tina Tappana and Jamie Edford.
OSU in Tulsa volunteers have full slate for United Way Day of Caring
Tulsa Area United Way Day of Caring starts with a breakfast at 6:30 a.m. Friday at The Pavilion at Expo Square and OSU in Tulsa volunteers are helping out. Shanta Dunn, Cam Estes, Beth Freeman, Mahalia Hawkins, Debbie Martin, Bavette Miller, Laura Pennington, Ronda Shouse, Susan Tolbart and Nancy Van Winkle will help with health screenings, manicures and Bingo at Broken Arrow Neighbors - Treetop Apartments senior living.
Amanda Benn, Sandy Cooper, Tara Fitzgerald Urich, Jay Bullard, Deena Wheeler, Jeff Hackler, RD Bell, Andrea Pearson, Terry Brown, Ryan Miller, Dallis Graham, Wanda Rountree, Chad Landgraf and Betty Jo Westerfield are doing garden maintenance and fall cleaning at Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma headquarters.
Recycling efforts make a difference
OSU in Tulsa has recycled almost 28 tons of paper this year, equaling approximately 112 barrels of oil, 117,600 kilowatt hours of energy and enough energy to heat and air-condition the average North American home for almost 168 months. Each OSU office and classroom should have a cardboard box for paper recycling. If you need a container, call (918) 594-8200 or contact Tulsa.firstname.lastname@example.org. All white paper, envelopes, shredded paper, computer paper, colored paper, glossy paper, manila folders, carbonless forms, index cards, junk mail, fax paper and magazines can be recycled.

OSU-CHS United Way events will help reach 2011 campaign goal
Wear jeans, enjoy grilled burgers, bake sale items and a chili cook-off, all while supporting the OSU-CHS United Way campaign. Burger lunches and bake sales are Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the OSU Health Care Center, Friday, Sept. 16, at the OSU-CHS main campus and Wednesday, Sept. 21, at a location to be announced. A chili-cook off on Friday, Sept. 23, wraps up the campaign events. Purchase coupons ($20 for two weeks) from any committee member for Jeans Weeks. For more information, contact Ryan Miller.
