MASH - Multiple Avenues to Service in Health

Ages 13-17 eligible

June 17 - 21

Campers explore health careers with leadership training, field trips to healthcare facilities and schools, speakers specializing in a health profession, and fun/fitness activities.

The goals of the camp include:

  • inform campers about health careers
  • answer questions on academic requirements
  • familiarize students to the work duties of various health occupations
  • promote community awareness and preventive practices
  • demonstrate the practical application of scientific principles to health care

Cameron University Kids Science Camp

  • June 18-22, 2007
  • Ages K-5
  • $50 per student

The primary focus is on science and math learning with a space exploration component. SWAHEC will collaborate with camp organizers and Cameron University's Department of Physical Science and the Science and math Ressource Center.

The goals of the camp include:

  • Promote math and science in grade school
  • Integrate math and science into health careers
  • Promote Health Career Awareness

Teen Round-up Camp- Children of single parent homes and/or suffering financial hardship

Ages 7-16 eligible
Camp Round Up is a 40 acre campground. Children participate in a arange of activities, such as crafts, sports, talent shows, pony rides, fishing, and critter hunts.

The goals of the camp include:

  • Promote Health Career Awareness
  • Provide free camps for children in Southwest Oklahoma

Science Detectives Summer Academy

For students who will be in the 8th or 9th grade Fall 2007

June 3 - 9

Enrollment Deadline: April 30. 

It is a residential camp, a part of the  Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Summer Academies for Science and Mathematics.  The students will go into the field to collect water samples and then test them in the lab for coliforms and pathogens.  Applications are obtained through the SWAHEC office.
