The OORH is the state designated entity that administers the Flex Program. With this funding, the OORH provides technical assistance targeting rural hospitals and communities across the state. Oklahoma has 37 critical access hospitals that provide lifesaving care to rural residents. These hospitals have a profound impact on local economies across the state. Without these hospitals, economies would suffer, the health of communities would decline and the approximate 1,348,000 residents living in rural Oklahoma would have an even greater distance to travel in order to receive medical care; either routine or in emergency situations.
